Symptom Management Workshops
Fatigue Management Workshops
These workshops are run by MS Specialist Nurses and are held periodically. Fatigue Management Workshops are an excellent resource for those people with MS who experience chronic fatigue. It's been estimated that around 97% of MS patients experience this debilitating symptom. The aim of the workshop is to teach coping strategies to help minimise the effects of fatigue on daily living.
Fatigue can be a very difficult symptom to explain to family and friends, so for that reason, people with MS are invited to bring members of their family or a friend along with them to the workshop.
The workshops are a good opportunity to meet others who are experiencing similar symptoms.
Next Fatigue Management Workshop at 10.00am on Friday 23rd March
If you would like to take part or would like more information please do not hesitate to contact the Centre on 01227 470 876.
Cognition Management Workshop
Cognition refers to memory and thinking. It describes the way we:
-
focus, maintain and divide attention
-
learn and remember new things
-
think, reason and solve problems
-
plan, carry out and monitor our own activities
-
understand and use language
-
recognise objects, assemble things together and judge distances
Not everyone with MS experiences problems with congnition but mild difficulties are common. The Cognition Workshops run by an MS Specialist Nurse will teach a person how to manage this symptom more effectively. This workshop is also open to the families and friends of people with MS.
